1987 Toyota Sunrader 21’ 50,752 original miles. It has been my family vehicle that has been great while the kids were little.
4 Cylinder 22RE fuel injected, automatic transmission with overdrive, power steering and brakes, rear air bags for a smoother ride, very good tires used less than 6,000 miles and runs great. Great gas mileage, about 15 mpg. It’s a very reliable vehicle and I’d trust it to go anywhere.
1986 and newer Sunraders came with an upgraded rear axle from Toyota that could bear more weight and support dual rear wheels. 6-Lug Full Floating Rear Axle. Good turning radius like modern trucks and SUVs, making it easy to drive and park anywhere. 1 piece fiberglass shell that doesn’t leak like the metal RVs.
Smogged and ready to go to a new owner. Runs great and ready for a road trip. The only thing that doesn’t work is the cruise control. Brake Master Cylinder replaced recently, and all brake pads with less than 6,000 miles use. We have had it about 5 years and have outgrown it as are now a family of five.
Newly painted the front cab. No water damage. Good gas mileage, cheap to register and insure. Can park in a normal parking spot.
Original throughout, shows normal wear, upgraded couch padding that makes the bed bigger, (our three kids 5, 8 & 10 slept width ways and my wife and I slept up top). Seat belts on two bucket seats and three seat belts on the couch. There’s a solid over-cab bed, couch with seat belts that also lets out into a bed, two swivel chairs and a table.
Propane stove and oven
Fridge/freezer combo propane and electric
Air conditioner and propane heater work well.
Water pump feeds bathroom sink, flushing toilet and shower. Hot water is disconnected and not sure why as it was prior to my ownership. We usually stay at campgrounds with showers so it was not an issue, and took a few lukewarm showers.
Black water tank has a small leak. Grey water tank broken. Our work around has been to have the grey water tank drain to a five gallon bucket and empty as needed. The black water tank drips; so for a long time I would put a small bucket under when we camped; more recently I started putting a kitchen garbage bag in the toilet and emptying it a few times a day, (I leave a 5gallon Home Depot bucket in the shower and use it to transport the “garbage bag” to a dumpster so others don’t know what I am doing). I have found this daily chore to be much easier than waiting in line with all the other RV’s on checkout day to do the “holding tank dump”.
Rear bumper heavy duty upgrade to have hitch that holds a bike rack or storage rack.
