FOR SALE: Nicely-restored ’91 Toyota Itasca Spirit motorhome. This attractive RV is way-above-average !

Yes, this is that Toyota RV you have been looking for! It is rare and unique — especially because it is NOT a project! Just the opposite — everything has been carefully gone over to be as nice as possible. My assistants and I have spent many, many hours this past year intentionally restoring this coach to be optimally usable for the next owners. Toyota RVs are our hobby and we take pride in our work. We have great satisfaction when we can put one back on the road as it was meant to be.

“Way above average” aptly describes this coach. The reasons will become obvious when you read its many features and upgrades. Most Toyota RVs that come up for sale need a fair amount of time and attention, and probably a good amount of money to make them comfortable and trouble-free again. Here now instead, is one that is ready to take camping right away. What you will read about is at least 140 different tasks and items that the new owner WON’T have to deal with because we have fixed or improved or added them already.

First of all, this model is a Winnebago Itasca Spirit, which it is considered to be the best-built overall of any brand of Toyota RV, but nicely-restored ones like this are rather hard to find. This vehicle has spent its entire life in California until May 2018 when it was driven to Illinois to complete its restoration.

Secondly, it has a V-6 engine (not a 4 cylinder) so you have more adequate power for climbing hills, and you have the ability to tow a moderate load. Interstate speeds of 65 mph are easy to maintain. The ride in the cab is much quieter and the seats more comfortable than earlier models. Toyota engines are known for their longevity and great gas mileage especially compared to any other RVs of the same size and price. The chassis with automatic transmission can get up to 16 miles per gallon.

This particular engine was just recently replaced (short block) so it will provide many years of travel yet. The odometer reads 123K miles which is in the range of average for a Toyota RV. (We know of Toyota RVs with close to 300K miles.) It has been driven about 3K miles since the engine was installed, so that means it has been “broken in” nicely. It is a new Toyota factory engine. It was installed by the Toyota dealer in La Crescenta, CA under the “V06 Campaign” (head gasket recall) authorized by the Toyota Corporation.

In conjunction with installing the new engine, this vehicle has had all of the following additional components replaced, and other extra chassis services performed, so as to make it as roadworthy as possible. With all of these maintenance items taken care of, you can have confidence that this RV will perform better than most. (It is more apt to be free of the unexpected surprises that often come with used RVs that are for sale because sellers just want them off their property for whatever reason.)

The exterior of the RV is flat-sided fiberglass – more desirable. It has now been polished and detailed, and the exterior stripes in shades of Hunter green and gold are newly installed, making this vehicle quite stunning compared to most. If you didn’t know, finding a nice-looking exterior on a Toyota RV is a hard thing to come by. You can be proud to drive this very stylish-looking coach that looks much newer than it is.

  1. I’m looking for a Toyota dolphin or Toyota winnabago itaska fixer upper that has no mechanical issues and runs great,v6 preferred.needs interior work. Have 3500.00 to spend but would like to buy for 2500.00 to 3000.00.if you have one sitting around in your yard you would like to sell please contact me at 360 644 8105 or text also.I will travel to pick up anywhere.

  2. WOW, this thing doesn’t even have an awning, a rear latter, a proper entertainment system, or any kind of towing. Plus, the overhead air conditioner is OLD, and it has almost 124,000 miles!!! And the seller wants almost $23,000.00??? WHAT A JOKE. I hope no one is stupid enough to fall for this seller’s con job. No doubt they paid less than 5K for this thing, did some cleaning and added some cheap, emotional nonsense (fly swatter, Kleenex, door mats, pot holders, etc.) then hope to find someone dumb enough to pay $23K for an 7K or 8K vehicle. For 23K, this thing should have a brand new engine — not a polished old one with over 123,000 miles. Don’t Be Stupid Folks!!!

  3. I really did consider this RV. I looked into it and contacted the seller. It is the size, make, vintage look and price, engine etc that I am looking to purchase. Trouble is, I just don’t have that amount of money in savings and investments. So I looked over the list of upgrades etc’s this RV has and I guess I am glad the money is not in my pocket. At first I thought you might be eating sour grapes or whatever, but then that engine with 123k miles made me pause and think. Well, thanks for the heads up on all to consider. I will be traveling with hubby, but there are times when he just doesn’t want to stay on the road as long as I do. An engine is pretty costly for a woman to be messing around with by themselves.
